    The Orange Bowl that wasn't
Proposed Oklahoma-Va. Tech game busted by BCS

If you ain't No. 1 or No. 2, it does not matter.
  3. It's obvious they shot it down so that the winner wouldn't have a legitimate claim at a co-championship, right? If LSU were to win, you know OK would lobby for a piece. Va. Tech wouldn't have an argument, because of their head to head loss, IMO.

Uhm, actually, it does matter a great deal. It just doesn't matter in terms of crowning a national champ. Such a blase attitude is one reason why a playoff is so difficult to sell.

By all means, let's play to the interest of what's better for the guys in the stupid-looking blazers over what's better for the fans.

The amazing thing, though, is that the bowl suits were all for it. Obviously, the Orange Bowl would have loved 3 vs. 4, with the AP title possibly there for the winner. And the Fiesta had a hardon for the Jayhawks.

I'd like to say that's amazing, but it really isn't...
