Why is Michael Bloomberg's living room A1 news?

Perhaps this belongs on the Journalism Board/Ghost Town instead. But today's New York Times, A1, has a rather lengthy piece about the details of Michael Bloomberg's decorating. Images apparently were accidentally posted by his interior decorator. They went so far as to have independent appraisers estimate the cost of various pieces of art and furniture.

    Front-page news or not?

    Good question!
The only "news" is the name of his decorator, whom, I'm sure, is loving the free PR... although his upholstery is so godawfully tacky that maybe it'll backfire.

Bloomberg can apparently be very haughty with the press. Stockholm Syndrome?

It's sad. The Times can't get a usable quote from him on the subject and yet we're treated to gems like....

To be fair, though, I'd bet a fair slice of the Times' readership is into interior decoration porn.
