He has 42 more tackles than any of his teammates.

I think Manziel will win it but if a true defensive player is ever going to win again this is the year.

Te'o has the following going for him:

    1. Weak group of offensive skill players (relatively speaking).
    2. A freshman has never won the award.
    3. Leading candidate is a freshman who has had some off-field problems.
    4. Notre Dame's PR machine.
    5. Notre Dame is unbeaten and will play for the national title.

I know, but I don't think tackles will do it. First, it's not a very glamorous statistic. More workmanlike. And, also, people tend to be skeptical about tackle statistics. It's not even an official statistic in the NFL.

Voting against Manziel just because he's a freshman is stupid.

Then again, Mike Trout managed to not win the MVP, so I guess voters for sports awards are stupid sometimes.

I totally get what you're saying about perception, but after watching Te'o this year -- DAMN is he good in pass coverage.

Three out of four of Herschel walker's personalities agrees.

But voting against Manziel because he plays at Texas A&M is perfectly understandable.
