Daniel Dale had the most thankless task.

He had the easiest task. Good luck to him starting Jan. 21.

Also, he got thanked relentlessly. Constantly.

Edit: Maybe I'm being unfair. Aaron Rupar had it easier. Dale tried harder, labored to pick specific lies. Rupar did some of that but, on off days, just took shit out of context applied it however he pleased.

Susanne Craig and Russ Buettner absolutely killed it on Trump's finances.

One thing I never knew about Schmidt is he was once a baseball writer. He started out very, very low at the Times. He discussed his brief time in sports in a recent podcast.

You think he hasn’t had work in the past? He’ll be just fine.

His criticism of Dale has always been hilarious to me.

Are we judging this by who gets the most RTs? Because there are some people who felt like they were just in it for the clout. Which I guess a lot of folks are, to be fair.

Maybe this is a different question, maybe not - which reporter was most effective in the Trump era. Anyone can show up the President on live TV, or even do a deep dive that uncovers things the President might not want out there - but who in the media probably influenced people's thinking the most? Was it even a reporter/broadcaster?

As sad as it is, I'm skeptical that any reporting impacted how the public evaluated Trump as President.

What's more likely is that those who changed their minds about Trump did so because of his tangible actions or words, not the diligent work done by countless reporters.

Should have been more precise, although I don't consider Joe Scarborough and those in his phylum 'reporters.'

Just a steady drumbeat of breaking news.

A lot of people are going to get better jobs out of this, even if they had to go through journalism hell to make it out of the four years.
