I know a few quality copy editors who would have caught every mistake and not seen the joke.

 

I know one who not only would not have gotten the joke, he would have spent 20 minutes screaming at the columnist for all the mistakes.

That column really was a fantastic way to give copyeds everywhere their just props

 

As Weingarten's corrections would point out ...
"Copyeds" should be "copy eds."
The sentence needs a period.
