Who invented volleyball shorts?

Is there any particular reason ass shorts are acceptable as attire for volleyball players accross the country? We're short a photographer and I've got 50 of 50 shots that could be considered gratuitous. Maybe I'm making too much of it.

There is no way to shoot volleyball that doesn't make a guy feel like a pervert.

I was joking too. I didn't say it with disgust, which I guess is hard to convey across the Internet.

But use common sense, if this was college, I wouldn't have a problem with this.

 

Many teams are now going to the thigh-length "bicycle shorts" style. A move heartily applauded by all the players who are even 5-10 pounds overweight.

I've always gotten a creepy-crawly vibe from the volleyball coaches who have lengthy arguments all reasoned out as to why the bikini bun-huggers are just clearly better shorts to play in. And some do. When players suggest (they almost always do) they want to go to longer shorts, they have a whole spiel ready to go as to why the gynecologically-designed ones are really much, much better to play in.
