    I write for the readers. If they're looking in my humble corner of the paper, then at least I owe them the chance to learn something from their time.

    I, too, write for Ivan Drago. Of course, it's mostly because I'm afraid he'll crush me if my game/feature story isn't good enough for him.

    Good thing he barely speaks any English.

    My audience is the person who knows a little bit about the sport, but can still follow the story if they don't know anything about the team they're reading about.

    Seriously, though, with the low pay, the uncertain future, the dwindling respect ... I think we have to write for ourselves these days.

    My mom. Seriously.

    She's the only person who, without fail, reads every story I write. Even though she may know little about the players/teams I cover, she still reads. And, according to her, every story I write is "very good".

    Nuff said.
