You. My attention wandered there for a few minutes. Stoopid election night.

I've always heard good things about Rusty Hampton and Randy Kennedy. Haven't worked with either. Talked to Rusty once, though.

He passed away earlier this year, but Mike Levine, of the Times Herald-Record of Middletown, NY, was a great editor.
And since he did a stint at ESPN the Magazine, and gave breathing room to the sports section of an 80K outer suburban tabloid, I'd say he qualifies as a great sports editor, too.

Burke was one of the best I've worked with, hard working and completely involved in everything in the section, but always fair and almost always right.

I'd rather be SE in lots of places than exec. ed in Beaumont, personally.

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
Or is it the one-legged man, in the ass-kicking contest?

Pittsburgh is a study in extremes.
Micco at the Post-Gazette might be the best in the country.
Smith at the Tribune-Review is the worst in the country.

The difference between SE in Seattle and EE in Beaumont (Tim Kelly) is probably $75,000 a year. That makes it a little more palatable.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it was started yet. Too bad, because I have a nomination so ready for this.

And you know that because you've worked for both, right?
