    Marvin Miller snubbed again ...

Herzog named on 14 of 16 ballots, Harvey on 15 of 16.

I'd like to know who thinks Doug Harvey is not a Hall of Famer.

Miller got only seven votes, by the way.

Jerry Crasnick is reporting that he got all five votes from the writers (Hummell, Pepe, McCoy) and the two players (Roberts, Seaver), and got just two of seven from the executives on the stacked committee: John Harrington (Red Sox), Jerry Bell (Twins), Bill DeWitt (Cardinals), Bill Giles (Phillies), David Glass (Royals), Andy MacPhail (Orioles) and John Schuerholz (Braves).

Hall of Fame is a joke.

I'm glad Herzog is in. I'm not going to claim to know much about Harvey, although I'm sure if I read his bio I'll agree that he's worthy.

Miller should be in. I'm guessing that it's not a coincidence that the executives are keeping him out.

Mizzou, along with Bill Klem, Harvey is widely considered one of the two greatest umpires of all-time. Players, managers and fellow umpires referred to him as "God" (without irony) during his years behind the mask.

As soon as you said "umpire" I immediately realized who he was. That wasn't the way I was thinking when I saw the name, I assumed he was an old-time manager. Yeah, he should be in.

    David Glass? Quite the expert.

Herzog should have been in years ago.

Why the hell are seven execs on the committee when there are three categories?

Have it be 5 players, 5 writers, 5 execs.

There isn't a better way to commit memory-book suicide in any major sport than speaking truth to power. The assholes never forget it.

Bill Giles hasn[t been with the Phillies for several years now...

    Yeah, Harvey is a no-brainer.

I'm assuming this is his first year on the ballot.
