3300 hits is more than good enough. all star appearances mean jack shit.

Without that hit total, he's Harold Baines with a worse arm and better base-stealing ability

True, but it's an awful lot of hits to ignore. Plus some of those hits came when he was as high as a kite and probably hadn't slept in a few days. I wonder how many more he could have had.

Without his home runs, Babe Ruth was a good left handed pitcher.

Wait... Bains is a career .306 hitter?

You're fucking high, Dools. Seriously, that's one of the dumber statements I've ever read on this board.

What connection is there to Baines other than that both did some DH'ing?

Career batting average of .306, with 12 seasons over .300? World Series batting average of .418 in 13 games?

On Baseball Reference, he's most comparable to Robin Yount, George Brett and Paul Waner.

Harold Baines would give his left nut for that.

Overshadowed by Yount, overshadowed by Carter, overshadowed by Puckett. Gets in for being well above 3,000 hits, and the steals probably didn't hurt. Doesn't get in for fame as such.

    Molitor's a freaking no-brainer.

    People here often baffle me.

he deserves to be there. Even if he didn't steal a base he deserves to be there.

Ryne Sandberg was apparently a post padder
