    Allen Iverson - Worked for pennies an hour before he went to college.

    Antonio Cromartie - A lot of kids (especially three 3-year-olds) all look up to him.

    In the long run, a person's desire to be or not be a role model is not relevant. That person cannot control whether another person admires him/her.
    The imporant thing for a child to understand is perspective. Nobody is perfect. All people do things that are wrong, albeit to varying degrees of severity.
    I liked Thurman Munson when I was a kid, but I liked him because he was a baseball player. I didn't want to dress like him or emulate other aspects of his behavior or personality.

    Arthur Ashe, Wilma Rudolph, Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali, Johan Olav Koss, Eric Heiden, Terry Fox, Billie Jean King, Joe Delaney, Jesse Owens.

    Kevin Durant seems like a solid guy. Jim Thome, by all accounts, doesn't screw around on his wife and isn't in financial ruin.

    I would concur with Terry Fox and add Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe and Jean Beliveau to the list.
