Now it looks like the DRays are trying to trade Delmon Young to the Twinkies. I saw this kid play in high school, and I thought he was absolutely destined for stardom. Now to be traded?!~?!?

They're not the DRays any more.

Paging Zeke to the white courtesy phone...

A talented athlete with questionable makeup makes it logical to dangle him in the trade market. If you could be sure he would stay out of trouble on the field (not throw a bat at an umpire) or off the field, you definitely wouldn't trade him. But if that were true, the Devil Rays probably couldn't afford him.

This makes sense for both teams. Young is a phenomenal talent (second in ROY voting), but he's had issues with the Rays, dating back to the incident in Durham when he thought he should already be in the majors, and at the end of last season when Maddon benched him.

There's the thought he's going to walk as soon as he can.

The Rays have outfielders, and would love to add a pair of arms like Garza and Rincon. They already have Kazmir and Shields, so it would give them three good young starters, plus help for a bullpen that had a 6+ ERA last season.

Rincon isn't what he was, but he's probably better than anyone in the Rays pen right now.

    Garza will be a stud.

Of course, we are talking about this in the hot stove thread and that Santana thread.
