An impossible question, as it varies with the seasons and circumstances. As in, there's a big difference in what tastes best at the 19th hole on a hot day in July, what tastes best sitting in front of the fireplace on Christmas Eve, and what tastes best sitting at a restaurant you can afford maybe once a year.
BUT, I will give you my parent's favorite drink, one I only have when I visit them. It too is an Old-Fashioned, but made with J&B scotch (only brand they'll tolerate), no sugar, and more soda, bitters and fruit (no cherries, though!!!) than the usual old-fashioned. They use different glasses so as to get the extra soda. They're very tasty.

    Non-alcoholic - fountain Diet Coke
Alcoholic - vodka and club soda (I'm not picky about what kind)

Since you once recommended I expand my bourbon horizons to include Basil Hayden as well as Woodford, I wonder if you agree that Irish is better for shooting and bourbon for sipping?

As for cocktails, when I'm visiting family in Florida, I prefer daiquiris. I'm careful to explain to the server that I don't want a strawberry slushy, but an honest-to-God daiquiri. Not once has a server recognized the order. About half the time, they come back with a daiquiri, sometimes admitting that the bartender had to look it up. The other half of the time, they come back saying, "The bartender has no idea what you're talking about either." ::)
