Natural Born Killers was definitely a love it/hate it movie. I remember quite a few older folks walking out of the theater, particularly after the Rodney Dangerfield scene.

But if you went there looking to laugh at the train-wreck ridiculousness of it all, NBK was a good time.

(Or maybe that was the 22-year-old me talking)

Anyway, I recall that after picking NBK, Crash and Trainspotting to see in theaters, my wife refused to go to the movies with me for a while.

I think you would really, really like Four Weddings and a Funeral.

For me it was 'Dumb and Dumber,' 'Forrest Gump' and 'Pulp Fiction.' At the time I really liked 'Speed' but that enthusiasm quickly faded.

That scene established the first set of villains, and merely set up the satisfying vengeance. Spoonfed the audience a moment to be upset by so they could pump their fists in triumph later.

The future wife and I sat in the parking lot for a few minutes after that just trying to come down from that movie. It creates its own reality.

  5. Clear and Present Danger.
