Interesting, sounds like a typical catfish dinner, but with eggs thrown in. I spent most of my youth about 40 minutes from Hope, in NE Texas. I've had more catfish dinners than I can remember, but haven't heard of anyone having it for breakfast. Sounds pretty good.

Roosevelt Park has the last or one of the last herds of native mustangs.

Theodore Roosevelt National Park is in North Dakota. Badlands National Park is in SD.

Devils Tower is also reasonably close to Spearfish (Moorecroft, Wyo., exit off I-90, if I'm not mistaken).

  9. Micro is correct. Also, Deadwood has come up as quite a history stop, thanks in part to the TV show. If you're into Old West history, my friends who have been there say it doesn't get much better; this includes a professor at Black Hills State who is one of the consultants for the show. Hot Springs has hot springs, too. Bypass Wall Drug. Check out the Corn Palace in Mitchell, and tip your cap to whatever monument there is to NBA swingman Mike Miller.

If there's a rodeo going on in any of the towns in the Black Hills, check that out. But don't go out there looking for an East Coast standard of culture. There is culture, it's just a different kind.

My bad. I thought it was at Painted Canyon in North Dakote, but I thought the park crossed the state line and was in both states.

The Badlands National Park is in SD, but the Badlands themselves cover a pretty wide area that includes ND and I think even some of Saskatchewan.
