What the hell's going on at Iowa?

    What I'm reading is if a player is good, try to keep the incident quiet and deal with it in house. If he sucks, turn it over to the cops and cut the kid loose. It's not a stretch to think any in house 'punishment' will be less harsh than the criminal system.

    It does seem highly unlikely that in-house punishment could result in jail.

    The whole thing is ugly because if what the mother alleges is even partially true, it is as if the Iowa athletic department was saying, 'the football player is more valuable to us than a female student-athlete.'
