What kind of employment ad is this?

    With all the jobs being cut, any job ad that is truly hiring is a wonderful thing. I don't care if it's written in crayon on a cocktail napkin in "cheezberger" speeak.... a hiring ad is a good thing!

    For some reason, the YDR eats its young and craps on the old. It's a good paper but they are odd.

    It looks like they want someone with an undying love for and belief in the business with a passion and desire in journalism. And this is how they're going to find the perfect match for them.

    It actually sounds like a good plan to me.

    "undying love for and belief in the business" equals low pay and crappy working conditions, because you love the business so much.

    Depending on the paper and organization, that is. Not all newspapers organizations are the same.

    York used to pay fairly well, IIRC, but the Guild deal expired in 2005, and I haven't heard anything about progress toward a new one.
