What has Tom Petty done the last 20 years?

Springsteen fans will undoubtedly question your contention that Tom Petty is America's best living rocker.

"Saving Grace" was killer off Highway Companion.

When he and the Heartbreakers toured with that CD, they did a couple of interesting covers: "Handle With Care" (The Traveling Wilburys) and "Oh Well" (a pre-Buckingham Nicks Fleetwood Mac song).

 

He's been busy not living up to the promise of his early work.
And making a ton of money doing that.

 

I'm going to see Tom in July. His concerts are incredible. And the venue I'll see him is outdoors. The show sold out in a few days.

 

I saw him at the Spectrum back in 1988 or 1989. Some time around then. I was visiting home from college.
I went with a girl I knew from high school and her brother.
I took a bunch of acid and dosed her brother. She got angry.
We had a good time though. Georgia Satellites were the opening act. I wasn't a fan, but I enjoyed their set.
Maybe it was the drugs.
