Were these the first FCS firings of the season?

Memphis and Western Kentucky both whacked their coaches today ... are these the first firings of the season?

 

Well, I just checked and since there's nothing on ESPN about Colorado, Virginia or Louisville making a move, I'm guessing these are the first.

 

By a nose, then ...

 

I've never seen FCS before... FBC maybe?

 

I think that's Division 1-AA

 

FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) is Division I-A.

FCS (Football Championship Subdivision) is I-AA.

So if we're talking about Memphis, the topic line is not correct. Memphis is FBS (Conference USA). I'm not sure about Western Kentucky (and don't care enough to look it up).

They need to go back to I-A and I-AA. It's much less confusing.

 

Does anybody really use FCS and FBS in print, considering hardly anybody knows which is which?

Western moved up to Division I-A this year.

Thus, the correct answer to the topic slug is, "No, you laggard!"
