I don't think that would be very smart. Pryor is good -- surprisingly efficient and mistake-free. And Chiefs sometimes don't even seem to be trying to score.

Agreed on Pryor. He and Geno Smith turning into somewhat competent quarterbacks, and thus turning the Raiders and Jets into somewhat competent teams, have been two of the bigger surprises of the season. Wasn't long ago both were mentioned in the 0-16 discussion. Now, if things break right, they could both be in the wild card hunt in December.

Pryor does have to be careful, though, or he'll eventually experience (again) what happens to all running QBs sooner or later. Take enough hits and one is bound to be the one that puts you down.

A few reports out there that Atlanta WR Julio Jones reinjured his foot during Monday's game and could possibly miss the rest of the season. The severity of the injury has yet to be confirmed.

Worst case scenario: If Jones is out long term, do the Falcons tank and try to get a high draft pick to go after South Carolina defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney? They really need a good pass rusher far more than anything on the offensive side of the ball and Clowney, recent injury aside, shows some potential. There may be other stellar defensive players available as well.

Tanking in the NFL is tough, and typically, doesn't happen. There have been a lot of instances of a team that all it has to do to get the No. 1 pick is lose a final game and they go out and win.

It's not like the NBA, most teams don't just give up less than halfway through the season.

It is very difficult to tank in football without the serious risk of getting your head taken off. Playing balls out is an essential safety mechanism.

Plus, you have players who have a lot of pride and are trying to keep their jobs, whether the team is on board with it or not.

If the Browns were going to tank after trading Trent Richardson, someone forgot to tell Brian Hoyer. Apparently, he wanted to stay around the league for a few years. It's too bad the guy got hurt...

It's one of the things that's great about the NFL, teams that suck one year can turn it around fairly quickly. That doesn't mean a team can't have a futility streak like Oakland has or like what Detroit had up until a couple years ago... But they're the exceptions. I'll bet almost 75 percent of the league has made the playoffs within the last five years.

Not with the new safety rules in place. Playing balls out will leave you
    lighter in the wallet.

KC may very well win, but I agree, this won't be a blowout.

Did anyone see Goodell's presser yesterday?

A lot of really interesting information about London games, future Super Bowl site, concussion information, possible expansion of the playoffs, revamping the preseason... and about half the questions were about changing the name of the Redskins...

I know the presser was in DC, but still...

I think you could have shortened up 2nd paragraph by just writing :

"do the Falcons tank and try to get a high draft pick to go Clowney?"

I have to think that everyone reading this thread knows who he is,his capabilities ,
his potential, and college he attends. You could not possibly not know the way
ESPN promoted him at start of season.

Also Osi wants a word with you on Falcons not having any good pass rushers.

All you need to do to tank in the NFL is withhold key players from the game. Sit your QB with a bruised thumb, your #1 WR with an ankle injury, a CB with a shoulder problem.

You can realistically reduce the talent on your team so that the players can play balls out and still lack the ability to win. If the season is going down the tubes, sit Eli and Roethlisberger the last 3 weeks because of health concerns. I don't think the Steelers and Giants are perceived as organizations which would do this, but they both take long term views and its in their franchises long term interests to draft as high as possible in what appears to be a deep draft.
