I guess Kiffin got recruiting advice from Rich Rodriguez.

    Agreed.

The coaches, the AD, the SIDs, most of the beat writers.

Thankfully I've never dealt with the AD or any of the SID's myself. Although, I can say there's at least one men's basketball beat writer who I'd like to shove off a bridge after having to sit next to him at a game last year.

A 63-year-old man referring to himself as "the ol' ball coach" strikes me as slightly juvenile.

But all the SEC synchophants just follow along. Even AP referred to him as "the ol' ball coach" in ledes at least twice this season.

    Juvenile.

Does he refer to himself as that or is it just the fawning SEC media?

Hold it.. It's more than just the SEC media... sometimes, those who don't know better in the written medium take their cue from television. Tell me the last time that ESPN or CBS went into a South Cackalacky highlight without mentioning "the ol' ball coach."

    That's fair.

True, slap. But I don't consider anyone on a CBS or ESPN telecast a journalist.
I hold real journalists to higher standards.
