I was going with the shift to the talk about anchors. But for TV weather, no, there might be a bit more memorization involved, but it still isn't anything with seriousness attached to it.

Good god, weathermen are wrong 90% of the time! I think the only thing you need to be a weatherman is a goofy personality, plastic looks and a name like Doc, Skip or Flip.

It may not be racist or sexist to say this and is an easy joke to make...but being friends of numerous meteorologists in the biz, that's a shitty thing to say.

Anyone could say the same thing about sports writers..."all they need to do is go watch a game and write what happened...who needs a degree for that?"

In fairness, you probably don't *need* a degree to be a sports reporter. I'm still waiting for the first time my journalism degree actually seems valuable outside of a job interview.
