    PD's father, at the time about a 14-handicap, once aced a 175-yard par 3 with an elevated green using ... a driver.

    Happened in late November and wind was blowing straight into the tee box at about 30 mph. The others in his foursome thought he'd bombed it over the green about 50 yards long.

    The course pro called it in to the local paper. I got all over him for actually admitting he'd used his driver - "Tell him you hit 4- or 5-iron, anything but a driver."
