The Arches National Park icon is no more.

    Too bad. That's a beautiful park although I wouldn't recommend going in mid-July ...

Damn. This makes my decision to skip ANP last summer to play golf at the Air Force Academy seem even more stupid.

  4. Still plenty of good arches to see in the park.

    Hate to lose this one,though.

Arches and Canyonlands are two of my favorite places in the world.

Were visitors allowed to stand under the arch(es) or were they kept at a distance prior to the collapse?

When I went years ago you could stand under all of them. I have lots of pics under them. But I guess if they noticed this one was ready to go they could have roped it off.

A park ranger ate lunch under it the day before it collapsed. There really wasn't any warning at all.

  10. Only in Moab.

Moab is the town right next to Arches. I have no idea what's wrong with it, though.
