    I heard it from a friend of a friend who works on the news side. This person said management was trying to handle it quietly, but ran a small brief explaining the change. I didn't confirm it with anybody else, so take it for what's worth.

    If that were the plan, I don't think we'd be seeing this job posting. Could they slide Berman over? I suppose it's conceivable. But I haven't heard anything about that. Also, there's absolutely a hiring freeze at the Landmark metros. But they're apparently making an exception for this position.

    OK, I was confused. I didn't realize this position was essentially replacing Randy on Tech, and having the Norfolk/Roanoke Tech beat be a joint operation. This makes sense to me now.
