Apparently more than a 100 people will lose their jobs. Forgive me for not doing any little victory dances.

But are any of those jobs on the actual journalism end of the operation?

    Does it really matter?

Well, ESPN Mobile going under probably means that some jobs won't be lost at Cingular or Sprint. So yes, it matters. If this were telecommunicationsworkers.com, I might feel more broken up at the moment. For crissakes, a product was repudiated by the marketplace, and is pulled. Happens all the time. Nothing to cry about.

Doesn't ESPN Mobile provide the same information newspapers do? I swear, some of you people around here are dense.

Doesn't every other cell phone made these days provide that same info?

ESPN Mobile is dead, but Sterling Sharpe Wireless will avenge its death.

Although I'm usually very happy when ESPN fails at anything, I'm sad that three good guys I know will be losing their jobs.

    Journalism or tech jobs?

One is tech and two are helping with content.

I also know a content guy losing his job. Well he's being turned into a part-timer, but still. Yes, journalists did lose jobs here, even if they are multimedia ones that seem to get little credit.
