Marlins deny a moment of silence before game against Venezuelan national team. Venezuela flag flown at half staff during batting practice but not during the game.

After consulting with Major League Baseball officials, a Marlins spokesman said a joint decision was made not to do so because “there wasn’t enough time to honor the request.”

"Today the people of the United States lost a friend it never knew it had. And poor people around the world lost a champion," says Penn in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "I lost a friend I was blessed to have. My thoughts are with the family of President Chavez and the people of Venezuela."

"Venezuela and its revolution will endure under the proven leadership of Vice President Maduro," adds Penn.

If this guarantees Milka Duno will never see the inside of an Indy car again, then Chavez will not have died in vain.

RIP. I guess they will start pulling those Joe Kennedy ads about thanking Chavez for giving oil to families in the northeast.
