Exciting Valentine's Day at the Webster house. My wife had knee surgery earlier this week, so she has been resting upstairs. I am trying to shake off the flu.

So I gave the kids heart shaped donuts, my wife was asleep by 9 and I was in a NyQuil induced haze by 9:30. Good times.

Pretty boring here, too. I made a home-made pizza (or a tomato pie, as we call it), a salad with roasted veggies, and we each had a beer we couldn't finish. Then we watched "All The King's Men" -- the 1949 version with Broderick Crawford. Not sure how why ended up doing that, but neither of us had ever seen the movie. I was in a good sleep by 10:30 -- I caught up a bit for a sleepless week.

We had a pretty decent night. Nice dinner in Nashville, followed by what was supposed to be a Kenny Rogers concert. The Gambler apparently came down the with flu Friday, so we got Wynonna Judd. It was an oddly entertaining experience.

I'll settle for oddly entertaining tonight. We're going to see a concert showcasing music from the French Court of Catherine de Medici. Wife loves that period music (performed with period instruments).

I hope her period doesn't start tonight, because after that, you deserve some gratitude.

as long as her mouth works, she should be able to express herself.

True. And she can do it all over again next month (along with a steak).

Bought tickets to a comedy show. It was outstanding. Dinner reservations at a Japanese steakhouse got screwed up but we went to a Mexican joint that was good. Went to the casino and won a few bucks. And we'll finish it next week in Florida with a spring training game. (My wife is a huge fan of the local team; tickets were for her, not me). Oh yeah, flowers and balloons went over big, too.

My wife took me to the "Friday the 13th" remake that year as a Valentine's gift. If you know me, it's not strange at all.

This year, I got a dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts, she got a piece of pineapple upside down cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory, and we saw the Goo Goo Dolls play downtown Boise on Saturday night. Free concert paid for by the builders/owners of as part of the grand opening of Boise's newest "skyscraper," which in this city means anything with more than 15 floors. It was pretty damn fun.

Your wife was riding the red rocket, too?

No, too much alcohol. Both of us fell asleep.
