    1. I am against Viagra being paid for by insurance plans, too.
    2. I think we may be talking two different issues here, sc. I respect your view point... but if a woman is being forced against her will to have sex, that is rape, plain and simple, and there are repercussions for that if charges are filed and dude is convicted. And the penalties ought to be more severe than they are.

Promiscuous socialized medicine. What's not to like?

Mammograms are a preventative measure, too. Why should they be included?

Hell, following your line of logic, why have insurance at all? Everyone can just pay as they go when they get sick, and that way no one has to pay for anyone else's medical care.

Are you seriously comparing contraception to plastic surgery?

I'll go a step beyond. I don't just want to pay for them; I want to make them mandatory. And there's no need to pay for anesthesia, really, is there? Gotta keep the costs down.

Zeke, never said my opinion is right. Skewer it if you will.

And I have no issues with sex education, etc. I think kids should be made aware of what the options are for them.

    wicked,

From a purely financial standpoint alone, I think paying for condoms is a lot cheaper than paying for a child on medicaid or someone with HIV or various STDs or a c-section, etc., etc., etc.

All I am saying is that sex is a choice -- for the most part. SC brings up a good point about forced sexual contact, although I think that should be dealt with separately.

I've never had insurance cover contraception purchases.

That is not the way you should look at it, though. You'd first want to look at how much universal condoms for everyone cuts down on HIV and STDs, if at all. Then you'd want to compare the taxpayer savings, if any, to the taxpayer cost of providing those condoms.

Sex isn't remotely close to being a choice. It is a physical need and the normal activity of consenting adults.

Providing healthcare coverage to make certain that an extremely normal and everyday activity doesn't become a death sentance is a good thing.
