Did his life preserver fall off during the accident or was he not wearing one?

  3. Not wearing one, according to the cops.

Even if you've had lessons, you should consider wearing a life jacket. You can drown in a puddle of water if you're knocked out. A co-worker's brother grew up on the water, worked shuttling folks down to a sportsmen's camp. Was coming home when a storm popped up. They figure he must have gotten knocked unconscious and drowned. Found his boat aground on a barrier island. Never found him.

Story says he was with a female companion, but AP has moved a picture of a fiancee.

It doesn't seem to connect the dots on whether she was the woman in the water, but you're left to conclude whe wasn't.

If you're on a jet ski, water skis, intertube... you have to wear a vest. I'm surprised if not wearing one in such a circumstance is legal. RIP.

RIP. Tough to see a player so young, especially a Patriot, pass away.

His being a Patriot makes him more worthy to mourn in your eyes?

  10. Not wearing a life jacket in a situation like that is like not wearing a seatbelt in the car or a helmet on a motorcycle -- you're taking a huge gamble just to look cooler or to be more comfortable.
It's really sad when that catches up to people.

I apologize for bringing legalities into this tragedy, but most NFL contracts have clauses written into them forbidding certain off-the-field activities; if I'm not mistaken, water-skiing is among the forbidden.

If the Patriots really wanted to be pricks about this, if they really wanted to send a message to the players, could they legally get away with not paying Hill's family the insurance money?
