UPDATE: It's (going to be) a boy!

First thing tomorrow morning, I find out the gender of my first child.

I'm slightly hoping it's a boy because everybody I know has girls (my college circle of friends has produced 11 girls and 0 boys) and because I have it in my head that boys are easier to raise. Plus, I'll never forget what someone told me once: "When you have a son, you have to worry about one penis. When you have a daughter, you have to worry about all of them."

Obviously I'll be thrilled either way. But for parents (or anyone else with an opinion), what are the relative merits of girls and boys?

I have a daughter (hopefully the son will come a little later).
I wanted a son first so he could watch out for his little sister and because I naturally relate to guys better than girls.
Now I can't imagine anything else. In fact, I wonder if I will be able to be as affectionate with my son as I am with my daughter.
Either way, you're in for one hell of a ride. Just make it through the first month (plan on not sleeping at all those 30 days) and it will suddenly get really, really fun and just get better and better from there.
    Congrats.

When you see that shadowy figure up on the screen and heart the rapid heartbeat from the speaker, you simply will not care if it's a boy or a girl. That it's yours is easily the most fantastic thing in the world.

    Congrats to you. Sincerely.

If you stop even trying to use your dick, at what point do you cease to be a dude?

When it falls off and a vagina grows in its place, I'm pretty sure.
