The Pentagon is set to announce soon a new policy outlining physical defense measures (or, more like a response) against wide-spread cyber attack.

Could be an interesting topic to discuss, but something tells me a certain poster or two will (a) turn it into a lame Congressman Weiner rant or repeated reference or (b) post a rebuttal to every single solitary response.

    Oh well.

If an attack takes down Internet porn, I say break out the nukes.

The article is a lot more nuanced than the first post indicates, and good thing. That is some really murky shit, and certainly needs some wiggle room. After all, do we really want to start bombing China and all which that would entail?

"You wanna know how to get Capone? They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That's* the *Chicago* way! And that's how you get Capone. Now do you want to do that? Are you ready to do that? I'm offering you a deal. Do you want this deal?"

The Pentagon should bomb Sony for their shitty people skills and weak servers.

Combine cyberwarfare with multi-national corporations and any state-sponsored cyberattack could end up biting you in the ass.

It's a little late for that. MacArthur wanted to do that in 1950 and Truman wouldn't let him.

The U.S. won't bomb China or Russia over cyber attacks, or even Iran and North Korea, but watch out Syria and Libya.

For some reason I see in my mind's eye a boatload of Nigerians scrambling for the exits, laptops in hand...
