This starts off with some stories about less-famous mascot dogs of college football, but then Hall brings it home and writes about his own dog, Isis, and well, if you can read it without getting choked up, you're a tougher man than I am. Just beautiful writing.

I have tears streaming down both cheeks as my 7-month-old terror, about 1/10 the size of Isis, is curled up next to me on the couch chewing on his toy.

No crying. I did enough of that in the last year putting down two dogs.

I can't imagine taking part in the actual injection, though. I couldn't have done it.

We lost our family dog last year at 14. I'm not ready to read that yet.

You can read the first few entries about different mascots and just stop when you get to the header about Isis.

I don't know. The La. Tech story tugs at the heart too.
