    I wonder what kind of candidates they picked - sports writers? education writers? A mix of the two?

    As I said earlier, I like this idea by Cedar Rapids.

    ace, did they create the position or simply have a sports person quit and then create a new beat with 40 hours they already had on the books?

    Anybody know if this position was filled or did they go into a hiring freeze too?
    I know some people cut out for this position at papers that are no longer committed to enterprise (budget I guess). They'd love to go to a paper that is.

    The paper hired Scott Dochterman. He started in August.

    Panchero's has nothing on Chipotle or Qdoba.

    And did St. Joseph ever advertise for Dochterman's position?

    St. Joseph moved assistant city editor Scott Pummel to sports editor. He has been at the paper for a long time and worked in sports before crossing over to news. He's a good guy.
