    I think Thomas and Joe were too busy giving interviews, taking credit for the Goudeau conviction, to notice.

    You could make a case for that, I guess. One left a dog to die in a hot car, one left a dog to die in a hot yard with no food or water. I would argue that the dog in the yard was a more willful negligence.

    One would guarantee coverage for the sheriff and one wouldn't. I've covered the sheriff long enough to know what a major factor that was.

    (To be fair, the sheriff is generally pretty good about nailing people for crimes against animals. It may be the one good thing I would say about him. This one still smelled, though.)
