Underdogs have their days

Is it just me, or does it seem a lot of underdogs are winning national and/or world titles the last year or so? If my memory serves -- and since hockey doesn't count (Hi, Flash! :D) the last non-underdog champion in any major college or pro sport is the Chicago White Sox.

I likely missing something, but there definitely is a trend.

BCS championship: Florida tops Ohio State
World Series: St. Louis Cardinals beat New York Mets in NLCS and Detroit Tigers in Series.
NBA Finals: Miami Heat over Dallas Mavericks, from highly regarded Western Conference.
Stanley Cup: No. 2 seed Carolina wins it, but had to fight off No. 8 seed Edmonton to do it.
World Cup: Italy knocks off France; Brazil ousted early
NCAA basketball: Florida wins; George Mason is in the Final Four
Super Bowl XL: No. 6 seed Steelers win
    BCS championship: Texas upsets USC

  2. Well, the Cardinals didn't beat the Mets in the World Series. But I get your point.

And of course, Boise State ran the table. Not a national title, but worth at least a mention like George Mason.

I know they had a great regular season, but it took the White Sox 88 years to win a World Series. From where I'm sitting, they were underdogs. But I get your overall point, too.

Florida was the best team. [SECfanboys, again missing the point entirely]

Florida was a 7 1/2 point underdog this morning.

    OK, where's that broken record?

    Dye,
Your rants rarely bother me, and I actually enjoy most of your feuds. But give this one a rest. You sound like an idiot at this point.

    100 percent incorrect.

Wow, that's two identical posts on two different threads.

Seems like the previously derided copy and paste is in effect.

It is in effect. But not derided. It's very necessary.

Like Whitlock's hand was so neccesary?

If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, et cetera....
