I wonder if they're recalling all copies of the issue so that it can be reprinted with the new "Top 150 Albums of the Decade" that includes the Glee CD that's being released tomorrow.

What are we considering "own" these days? I haven't gone through the list yet (about to do that now), but I can count on one had the number of albums I've actually purchased in the last few years.

I'm guessing either purchased MP3 or CD albums.

48/150 technically "in my possession." Of those, the only ones I've actually purchased are the Springsteen, Strokes and My Morning Jacket discs.

Noticeably missing: Green Day "Warning" and "American Idiot"; My Chemical Romance "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge"; everything Coheed and Camrbia's released the last decade; Weezer "Weezer (The Green Album)"; Jimmy Eat World "Bleed American"; any many others I won't waste everyone's time naming.

This list sucks. We should make our own.

American Idiot is definitely top 10 material. I don't think it will age well though as I always think of 2004 when I listen to it.

    A few more notables:

Turbonegro - Party Animals The Norwegian death punkers' most accessible album. Half of the tracks could have been legitimate FM radio hits including this
"Grab it cuz it's yours and the empire's dying.." Indeed.

New York Dolls - One Day It Will Please Us to Remember Even This A band coming back 30-some years after it broke up has no right to be this good. No slouches anywhere to be found in this reboot. I know most people skipped it because of no Johnny Thunders or Jerry Nolan, but it's the real deal.

Metallica - Death Magnetic Metallica playing metal. And playing it good.

Alice in Chains - Black Gives Way To Blue I know this just came out, but it's pretty strong. I know people have slavish allegiances to Layne Staley, but his time in the band wasn't that productive, especially toward the end. The new guy seems like he's got the throat and the aura down pat.

Rodrigo y Gabriella - Live in Japan - Now husband and wife duo started out as heavy metalers in Mexico City and ended up international virtuoso acoustic super stars based out of Ireland. They are two of the best guitar players working and the song
is the best thing I've heard this decade.

CSS - debut album - Weirdo dance punk from Brazil. You probably heard this
    in a commercial.

I have one album: Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Alison Krause.

I've spent wayyyy too much of this decade listening to music of the 60s and 70s. Plus, 99 percent of music put out now is crap. There's a reason why I don't listen to the radio anymore.

  8. Really glad the Loretta Lynn album made it. Did they include that as one of their eight Jack White picks?

Stuff off the top of my head I liked that didn't make it:

Morning Benders - "Talking Through Tin Cans"
Todd Snider - "The Devil You Know"
Will Hoge - "Blackbird on a Lonely Wire"
Switches - "Lay Down the Law"
Death Cab for Cutie - "Narrow Stairs"
The Shins - "Wincing the Night Away"
The Black Crowes - "War Paint"
Oasis - "Don't Believe the Truth"
    Drive-by Truckers - "Decoration Day"
Black Box Revelation - "Set Your Head on Fire"
Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs - "Under the Covers, Volume I"
    Beck - "Guero"
Ben Harper - "White Lies for Dark Times"
The Black Keys - "Rubber Factory"
Cracker - "Sunrise in the Land of Milk and Honey"
John Hiatt - "Beneath this Gruff Exterior"
John Mellencamp - "Trouble No More"
Lindsey Buckingham - "Under the Skin"
    Roseanne Cash - "Black Cadillac"
Steve Earle - "The Revolution Starts Now"

The '59 Sound by The Gaslight Anthem is my fave album this decade. Nothing here from the Old 97's?

This might as well have made it too with some of the garbage they have on there.

Say what you want about Andrew WK (And I agree the album doesn't hold up well) but when he came out, dude could rock a live show.

I saw him in Providence once and he let the whole mosh pit come up on stage and perform with him. It was awesome.
