Euro is only for European teams, so the U.S. couldn't be invited. I think Copa America invites top North American teams every so often, but they wouldn't bring Italy or Germany over.
Also, I think Austria and Switzerland co-hosted a previous Euro and Japan and South Korea co-hosted the World Cup before South Africa.

Games were much better than I expected they would be for the opening day. Russia looked great. Shouldn't have a problem running away with that group.
