Why, Tony, is this a great thing? Still waiting for the answer.

Whatever covert ops there were did not result in World War III starting. And Clinton did not have a nasty habit of bashing hornets' nests with baseball bats around the world.

Actually, we have no idea if that's accurate or not.

Well, AQB, we do know he did not invade another country and overthrow the government and get 4,000 US troops killed and get hundreds of thousands of Iraqis killed or displaced.

Which wasn't exactly covert and isn't germane to the conversation.

    Neither is Clinton.

Uh, you're the one who highlighted:

And Clinton did not have a nasty habit of bashing hornets' nests with baseball bats around the world.

I do not think that was a reference to anything covert.

I honestly can't believe even these guys would want to escalate shit with Iran right now--with Iraq and Afghanistan still unfinished messes, and Iran having several times the size and population and and at least 10 times the military firepower of either of those countries--and only months away from the end of their time in power.

A third war in Iran strikes me as an act of national suicide. Maybe it results in a quick surrender when Obama's elected and withdraws the troops, or maybe it results in another decade of mideast quagmire bankrupting our country, killing our kids and bleeding our morale dry. Either way, it would not end well.

This statement has quite a bit of accuracy to it.

Let's put aside, for a moment, whether or not we SHOULD go into Iran. Focus instead on the logistics of such an action, especially if it were taken now or in the very near future.

Our military is already stretched incredibly thin as is fighting in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Opening a third front, albeit close an already existing one, would absolutely require more forces than we currently have available. And since people aren't exactly beating down the door to join, that leaves only a draft as the manpower solution.

Who would be the No. 1 pick in the draft?

One of the Bush twins, if he were to push for the draft. Seems only fair.

What's the worst military unit? Do they get the first pick?
