Dallas got hosed... They just gave two picks for a pending free agent.

Knowing Jerry, he'll get him to sign an extension if he already hasn't.

From AP: Soon after announcing the deal, the Cowboys said that they had given Williams a five-year extension on his contract that was set to expire after this season.

I think his point was: Williams was going to be a Cowboys player no matter what at the end of the season, so why trade a first and third round pick for him?

Why not trade those picks for someone the Cowboys could've used - like an OL or DB - and signed Williams at the end of the year.

I agree for the most part that Williams would have most likely been a Cowboy next year. However, if a team were to throw the kind of money he wants, and thinks he deserves at him in the off-season then there's a chance he doesn't become a Cowboy. I think Jerry couldn't face the fear of having Williams lining up as an Eagle, Giant or Redskin if they were to throw more money at him than the Cowboys could have at the end of the year.

jerry's playing fantasy football. good luck with that.

with the secondary he's got, the 'boys are the '80s chargers. they'll get toasted by someody in the playoffs. . . . if they get there.

    nice misdirection play, though.

    You're kidding, right?

Boldin -- Three 1,000-yard seasons and two 100-catch seasons in five years (not counting this one). He averages 80.9 yards per game.

Fitzgerald -- Two 1,000-yard seasons and two 100-catch seasons in four years. Averages 77.1 yards per game and has scored 39 TDs in 66 games.

Williams -- In four seasons, he has the same number of 1,000-yard seasons and 100-catch seasons as Mike Furrey -- one and none -- in the same offense. In fact, Furrey's career high of 98 receptions is better than Williams' best of 82. Roy's other seasons? 64, 54 and 45. Last season, Shaun McDonald had more catches (79-64), yards (943-838) and TDs (6-5) than Williams, again in the same offense. Roy averages 64.7 yards per game and has 29 TDs in 60 career games.

Before anyone starts throwing around phrases like ``one of the best receivers in the NFC" or calls RW an elite receiver, perhaps they should wait until he performs like one.

Great deal for Detroit. Got way more than RW is worth.

All the Lions need now is someone who won't waste the draft choices.

Is WR now a need in the 2009 Lion draft?

    hahahahahahahahaha

Still, a great trade for the Lions.

I think history will see if it's a great trade for either team. The Lions haven't drafted anybody with those picks yet and Williams hasn't stepped on the field for the Cowboys yet. Sure, it looks like right now the Lions got the best of it, but the Vikings thought they got the better of the Herschel deal way back in the day and that didn't turn out so well for them.

I'm just hoping the Cowboys didn't Herschel themselves on this one as the Vikings did.

Fantasy football sure worked for the Redskins.

Williams plays like Randy Moss... he takes one play off every series.

He may play better now that he is on a team that can win a few games.
