Aren't a far higher proportion of twins identical, so I guess the 1 in 12 number would come from the smaller percentage of those which are fraternal twins to start with.

As a general member of the overall twin population, the frequency would be far rarer.

Coincidentally, my fraternal twin sons turn twenty-one tomorrow.

Oddly enough, they don't look at all alike.

Not that I'm worried or anything

Like RickStain, I call total bullshit on the 1-in-12 stat. So if there are 100 sets of nonidentical twins, eight of them have different fathers? Then how come I've never heard of another instance of this?

Maybe, MAYBE, it's "one in 12 sets of nonidentical twins in which there's DNA paternity testing because they suspect something is up," but that's hardly 1 in 12 from all nonidentical twins.

There's a mom in the little league where I coach who's had this happen. Two eggs released, had two different "donors" in one night.

Dan Fogleberg and Tim Weisberg don't know what all the fuss is about.

How do you explain that to your kids?

When they ask, "Who's my daddy?", does the mom say, "Well, this one time, there were two guys and, uh, um. . ."

    Very Cartman's mom-esque.
