JR is unfortunately right. The first two or three seasons were really good, but then Joel Surnow decided to make torture porn for right-wing lunatics. Still worth watching thereafter for the sheer insanity of it all and Kiefer Sutherland's overacting, but it really lost me last year.

Season 1 was really good. Season 2 went downhill quickly and I couldn't watch anymore.

Lost me too, but I'll be back to see if they've put a single gram of intelligence into the scripts.

They probably can't get any worse. At least there's an original wrinkle now, what with Jack...being...out...of...the...government...for...the...sixth...straight...season.

I wonder which is greater, the number of times BYH has watched 24 or the number of times BYH has posted about how much 24 sucks?

Don't know but the # of times I've posted about how awesome Freaks and Geeks is trumps all. :D :D

What exactly did Doug do that he need his helper, Emmy Jo?

I think I need a helper, preferably of Emmy Jo's caliber.

Rescue Me is a very good option.

If you can look past the fact that it is science fiction, Battlestar Galactica is a fantastic dramatic series. It is not exactly new for me to be pushing that one (see my sig).

The end is....weird and there were a few mini-slumps along the way, but just the miniseries and the first episode of the ongoing are worth a look. If those don't hook you, well, your taste is a light year or two away from mine.

I stayed with Prison Break until the bitter end. I think it might have been better if it was on cable and they shot 14-16 eps a season. Toward the end I'd forgotten what the point of the entire series was (or that the conspiracy that was the lynchpin of the entire thing was scuttled in a matter of five minutes).

Here is a vote for "Homicide: Life on the Street." You won't be disappointed.

    This.
Breaking Bad is freaking phenomenal. Great acting, great episodes, great premise. Perfect mix of drama and humor, sometimes in the same scene.
And after watching Walter White take the next step of his evolution to meth kingpin in Season 2, you'll never watch Malcolm in the Middle the same way again. You'll keep waiting for him to let a flu-ridden Dewey choke on his own vomit.
