In the overrated category, Robinson (Syracuse) is 65th. Out of 66. :D

Ehh, Morriss doesn't quite have the resume of Brooks. Not saying Brooks should be ranked any higher than he is, but I don't think Morriss is better. Oregon is where they are today in large part because of Brooks. While he did have a losing record at Oregon, look at his last decade there. He went to the Rose Bowl (can't remember if he won it or not) at Oregon and finished 4-4 in the SEC at Kentucky--and he has that program looking nowhere but up.

Brooks doesn't have the best record, but he hasn't exactly coached the best schools, either.

I was a little surprised to see Kragthorpe at 27, though I think he'll earn that spot and maybe higher at UofL.

I thought Jeff Tedford was a little low at 22. I'd take him over Houston Nutt in a heartbeat.

You're a picky one. Erickson was at OSU four years. You can't marginalize what he did in 2000...Oregon State 11-1, a 41-9 winner over Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl, ranked No. 5 in the final poll and one point away from an unbeaten season? It's not turning water into wine, but close if you know the history of OSU football.

85-56, where dog ... oregon state, idaho and washington state? if he actually is 85-56 at those schools, he's a freakin' god.

... you forgot Wyoming. Yes, Dennis did his time.

I did not mean to marginalize it; it's a great accomplishment, certainly (and I'm always happy to congratulate anyone that takes a dump on ND). But it was still one year in four at OSU and one among many at the non-Miami schools.

I'm not saying the guy can't coach. I'm saying that there's no way he should be in the top 10.

TP: Local standards played no part to me.

I saw that and I think Brooks is a little low.

He took a UK NOBODY wanted, except Guy Morriss, at a program with very little tradition that wasn't folowed by probation.

And the first year off probation and with a full slate of scholarships wins eight games and beats Clemson in the Music City Bowl. And, they have pretty much everybody back. So give Brooks a little more love than that.

I'd say he's better than Weis and has done more than Weis has since he;s been at Notre Dame.

Of course, they're still just third best, possibly fifth, in the SEC East.

Have to see what Kragthorpe does at UL, and in my mind Urban Myer is the top coach in the country hands down.

Here is Dienhart's follow to his ranking -- this is sort of a ranking after the ranking I suppose (in other words he is mailing it in because it is the offseason.......)

Hawkins is way too high at 38 — what he has done at CU to deserve that ranking?

i think you mean "probably" not "possibly" fifth

    1. florida
    2. tennessee
    3. georgia
    4. south carolina
    5. kentucky
    6. vandy

you could make an argument about fourth with s.c., and even with a win over uga last year, i don't think you can go third
