The thing that is missing from this column is that Griffin's "father-figure," his 15-years-older half-brother Marvin Powell, died of a heat attack at age 34 right after Eddie declared for the draft at the end of his freshman season at Seton Hall.
He was an already troubled kid -- as evidenced by the fights with teammates in high school and college -- and then he lost the only person who apparently could help him maintain control of his life at a time when he was going through the huge leap to the NBA and new-found wealth.
That was Eddie's recipe for disaster

    Where is/was his dad?

    I don't understand why seed-spreaders aren't held accountable?

Where is Michael Vick's dad? I've heard Vick talk about his mom.

your opening post is not a good look. ANYBODY can DIE in a car accident and many do. That's why they are called ACCIDENTS.

    CAREFUL.

Officials said Griffin, 25, drove his SUV through a railroad crossing barrier, past flashing warning lights and into a moving train."

Pretty much the metaphor of his life, wouldn't you say?

Police believe his breaks may have been faulty.

He didn't get very many breaks in life, boots. I guess that's part of the story ...

this isn't the first time we've heard from vick's dad. he's been described as 'estranged' from his son in earlier stories. there must be more to the story, namely, why are they estranged. for pops to come out now and rip his son, despite being estranged (but also living rent free in a place paid for by michael) is bizarre.
