    Will Mel Kiper be welcome?

"That's why Nebraska-Omaha is playing in Division II every year, not battling for the Big XII championship," Mel Kiper Jr said.

    Edit: damnit Devil!

Yeah, but you remembered the line.

    Who is Mel Kiper anyway?

Excuse my ignorance, but is the Kiper stuff the reason Alberts was let go from ESPN?

I must admit: I had to look it up and confirm Kiper was referring to Trev Alberts.

Beaker: No, Alberts apparently didn't show for work one day in a dispute over air time. ESPN called his bluff. See ya!

I am searching for a youtube clip, Beaker, but I cannot find one.

    From wiki...

Thanks, that does sound vaguely familiar.

That is awesome. That always makes me laugh.

Little-known fact: The Colts DID try to replace Harbaugh with Dilfer, albeit by one degree of separation. They acquired Craig Erickson--the guy Dilfer was drafted to replace in Tampa--from the Bucs and named him the starter over Harbaugh in 1995. Of course, Erickson lasted one or two starts that year and the Colts came within a cradled football of making the Super Bowl (as 93Devil may recall) as Harbaugh had the year of his life.

And Dilfer had a journeyman career and is now known as the worst QB to ever win the Super Bowl. And now he works for ESPN!!! Mmmmmmmmm, that's good irony!!

There were a handful of plays that could have changed the outcome of that game. Steelers were lucky to win that one.
