Trent Lott and talk radio

This from the NY Times today:

Comments by Republican senators on Thursday suggested that they were feeling the heat from conservative critics of the bill, who object to provisions offering legal status. The Republican whip, Trent Lott of Mississippi, who supports the bill, said: “Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.”

People expressing opinions has to be dealt with?
That statement scares me a lot more than anything Bush has ever said.

It's how he phrased it that's scary.
I mean, does he really think that "talk radio" is "running America"?

I think he understands that talk radio is a heavily-listened-to entity.
I don't think he understands the words he used.
    He can't be that dumb.

isn't that along the lines of government of the people, by the people, for the people.

we can't have that now, can we?

Would this be the same Trent Lott who has been a beneficiary of talk radio over the years, especially in light of his less-than-enlightening views? Just checking.

Frightening, indeed. Can't be having them there people expressing them their views. ::)

  5. Hey Trent --
Talk to Vince Foster's family, you Confederate fake.
I said it elsewhere, they're trying to beg the monster to come back into the lab.
    Hee-hee-hee....

Nothing scares the "modern" GOP more than an informed electorate.

Fenian, Trent is on your side on this issue.

Trent is probably complaining because the "J.T. and Dave Show" guys were handing out Washington phone numbers left and right Wednesday. They were encouraging listeners to call the offices of Republicans who voted against the immigration bill to tell them that Trent wasn't "representing Mississippians."

    Non, non, mon ami,
The Republicans stoked this kind of idiocy for 20 years. They also played footsie with white supremacists -- like Trent Lott, for example -- in the South and militia crazees in the west. Now, the whole unholy mess is biting them in the ass.
I, for one, am loving it.

Dude, Trent Lott -- racist, or not -- is pushing the president's immigration policy something awful.

That's sort of outlandish to categorize Lott as a "white supremacist"
    I mean, really.
To lump his politics into the same boat as some "militia crazies" is just not realistic
