Pretty ballsy for a Barry Manilow fan to be knocking the Mandrell sisters.

Two words: wine tasting. Great tour and it's a house that just the sheer size of it will make your jaw drop on the floor.

Gatlinburg is the nicest park gate town on the Tennessee side, but it is way too commercialized. Pigeon Forge is way too strip-mallish.

Staying in Asheville is your best bet.

Never go to Pigeon Forge if you have a choice. Gatlinburg is much, much nicer, though it's gotten more commercial over the years.

It all depends on what you want to do while you're there, though. I don't think you'd have a bad time staying in either Gatlinburg or the Asheville side ... but depending on what you want to do and see, there are advantages to each place.

The actual Smoky Mountains feature some of the prettiest places I've seen East of the Rockies. Just don't poke any of the black bears with a stick...

Go to Chimney Rock, south of Asheville.

The last 10 minutes of Last Of The Mohicans was filmed there.

Incredible.... put your head under the waterfall.
