Tower Heist...did Eddie Murphy actually make a good comedy again?

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by Scribbled_Notz, Nov 11, 2011.

  1. I didn't see Dreamgirls, so it feels like it has been decades since Eddie Murphy did a quality movie that didn't rely on fart humor.

Anyway, the wife and I went and saw Tower Heist last night, and it was actually really funny. Probably the funniest I have seen Murphy in more than a decade. It's good to see him break an amazingly bad string of movie choices.

One thing - Tower Heist is a stupid name. Come on, Hollywood.

I think you and I are the only ones on the board who liked it. :D

I can't remember Murphy's last good comedy before this one. I'd probably have to look it up. Bowfinger maybe?

I haven't seen it yet, but it's on my list.

Would you count the Shrek movies as comedy?

It's a fair question, but no... I don't think you can call an animated film "an Eddie Murphy movie"

Although, I think he was great in the first two Shreks. (I hated the third and skipped the fourth...)
