Yankees on ESPN News teleconference said they offered a one-year deal with an option at $5 million, with a $1 million bonus for making it to the ALDS, ALCS and World Series, so it could be worth $8 million.

    But Torre turned it down.

He is high! He is deep! He is gone!

Mortality prevents Steinbrenner from going after Billy Martin one more time.

Please, please, please make this happen.

This would be the most enjoyable reality show of all-time.

Please, please, please don't let this happen.

Not sure how I feel about this. In some ways I want the Yankees to have a new manager just because.

    You knew he would.

    Please . . . LaRuse-a . . . for an alleged two years.

    Wouldn't even last one.

    Boy in a man's world.

So how many people does Bobby V stab in the back to get this job?

And how long does he last? 40 games?

This is best possible outcome for both parties- Yankees can say they offered Joe deal and he turned down. Joe walks away with his head held high.

    A win win.

    Good for Joe.

Big Stein has been jonesing to fire Torre for sometime. Now he can try to win with another manager. LaRussa, Bobby V., Mattingly, Girardi, the decaying corpse of Billy Martin; it doesn't matter. The Yanks fucked up huge and now they're passively-aggressively trying to potray Torre as the bad guy, no matter how much they say they "admire" him in pressers.
