Whenever they break out the "high risk" designation, you know bad things are coming.

And I thought this had something to do with basketball.

Tornadoes, schmadoes. Wake me up when the New Madrid fault line rumbles up. That's when we can all kiss our asses goodbye.

Thankfully we don't have any tornado warnings here, but we are supposed to have sustained winds of 35 mph with gust into the 55-60 mph range. There is already dust flying everywhere and I am sure I will see some tumbleweeds as big as mini cooper's flying around later.

This happens every year down here in God's country.
Weather Service freaks out, says something horrific might happen. Then it doesn't.
Just because the high is going to be around 80 and then have a 50-degree drop doesn't mean disaster is going to hit.
Happened last week, no tornadoes then either.
And I really hope I'm right, 'cause if I'm wrong, then that means death and destruction.

They're predicting a slight chance of tornadoes after 9 p.m.
Therefore, TV stations dive right into STORM ALERT and schools will cancel all extra-curricular activities

The last time I remember a high risk designation for anywhere near here was last March 1, when Enterprise (Ala.) High got turned into kindling.

Twice I've been in a situation where The Weather Channel forecast read: "Tornadoes likely with this storm."

    Not "possible," but "likely."

Once it was Day 2 of the state track & field meet.
